1996 E-ClassThe Mercedes Benz E Class finally meets its master. This year, an extremely unusual change in the overall image of the vehicle takes place. The new E Class cars are now larger than the previous model line. More space has been allocated for the head, leg, and shoulder rooms.

Three models come available. They are the E300D, E320 and E420. The E300D contains a 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine that meets California emission standards. The E320 has a 3.2-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine, whereas the E420 is powered by a 4.2-liter 275-horsepower V8.

A dramatic new look is associated with the E Class series due to the many improvements designed for its body structure, interior, front fascia, and the chassis as well. Safety equipments that come as standard for all trims include dual front and side airbags, anti-lock brake system. A leather interior also comes standard on all trims. It gives an impression of luxury on the vehicle’s inside.

Meanwhile, a six-disc CD changer, telephone, power glass sunroof, leather seats and a new Xenon headlight system are offered as options. As a vehicle of German origin, details pertaining to superior handling and quick response are evident and observable in these series. The now stiffer chassis provide a crisp response and deliver an excellent high-speed stability.

The ride quality provided is first rate and cannot be ignored. E Class virtues such as good looks, flawless fit and finish, well-defined contours, excellent engineering and design, state of the art safety features as well as an outstanding comfort are well-defined and flaunted by these series.
