The midsize Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV has been dramatically improved in every way after a complete redesign in 2006. It has more-attractive styling, better road manners, more powerful engines and added features compared to the model that it replaces.
There are two new variants for 2007 that are polar opposites: One is the fuel-efficient, diesel-powered ML320 CDI, and the other is a high-performance ML63 AMG that packs a 503-hp V8 engine. A less-powerful V8 is offered in the ML500 and a V6 in the ML350.
Although the M-Class has full-time all-wheel drive with traction and stability control, the vehicle isn’t optimized for hardcore off-road driving. The interior is roomy and richly appointed. A height-adjustable air suspension is optional.
