One of the most useful things that can be found in the SL550 coupe/roadster was neither its wonderful top nor its smooth engine (although both are nice, even if the total package is rather expensive). It was, in fact, the car’s automatic trip counter, which is one of the screens found within the center gauges.
Simply put, every time you start the car, the car records your mileage, drive time, average MPG, and average MPH. It’s a handy little tool that starts automatically. If these four data points are typically built into a car’s brain anyway, why doesn’t everyone do this?
It’s one of those handy functions that people love to find in a car where the manufacturer has really thought about how people use their vehicles and helped them accordingly.
