Interior Spy Shot Of SLC Gullwing Supercar

Spies have caught another glimpse of Mercedes’ new SLC Gullwing supercar. However, instead of getting another look of the exterior they managed to do the impossible – they captured pictures of the interior of the car. The shots may not be high quality – but at least we won’t be too surprised when it is released. Don’t worry though we’ll act surprised!

The pictures shows off the dash and the console. The COMMAND knob is connected to the steering wheel similar to that on the AMG SL63. It has a flat botton, directional buttons, and three spokes. The HVAC controls and the switch for the headlights are also what we are used to and classic for a Mercedes-Benz.

The SLC Gullwing – which is rumored to be given the badge as an AMG only is the successor to the SLR McLaren. It is supposed to be equipped with an AMG 6.2 liter V8 engine that can push out 550 horsepower and is similar in proportions to the Ferrari F430.

Mercedes has plans to debut the new supercar during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with a cloth roofed convertible version coming only a year after. It is possible that things could change for the car so we will be on the lookout to see if it does.

AMG Confirms Future Hybrid and Diesel Models

Volker Morphine – the head honcho for AMG – understands that building supercars without contemplating their worth in the ever decreasing economy would be a foolish thing to do. To many consumers are worried about the fuel emissions and the poor stance of the economy. Because of this they are forced to re-think a few details and to contemplate bringing in the heavy artillery.

Hybrids and diesels are becoming quite attractive to many consumers and AMG has taken notice of this. A more recent interview with CAR revealed the idea of equipping a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter oil burning V6 engine into the C-Class. Mornhunweg hinted that AMG might push one of these type of cars into production.

It is possible that hybrid technology would be based on the brand new drivetrain that powers the new BlueHyrbid. None of this has officially been confirmed. But the fact that they are considering it makes us wonder what we can fully expect.

Mercedes Proudly Shows Off SL65 AMG Black Edition

Mercedes is proud of their new SL65 AMG Black Edition – which is said to be the most powerful car that they have produced under the AMG name. The car has been equipped with a Bi-Turbo 6.0 V12 engine that can be pushed to 670 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque.

This engine gives it the ability to reach a top speed of 199 mph and can push it from 0-62 in only 3.9 seconds.

It also comes equipped with a high performance brake system and a sports tuned suspension. The suspension allows for the tuning of ride height and several other features of the suspension.

2009 G55 AMG Revealed

Mercedes has revealed the new 2009 Mercedes G 55 AMG – which features a 5.5 liter V8 engine that can push out 507 horsepower, new 19” allow wheels, and a re-modified grille. The power on the new SUV has been given a boost and the electronic stability program is also new and a more powerful control unit.

Inside, the G55 AMG gets latest generation telematics equipment, optional heated and cooled seats, and standard designo leather upholstery. Mercedes has not released new G55 AMG fuel economy figures, but we anticipate the tank-like SUV to achieve no better than 11 mpg city and 13 mpg highway the current G55 AMG is rated for.

SL65 AMG Black Edition Spotted At Nurburgring

We are excited to hear that Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Edition will be using the twin turbo 6.0 liter V12 engine. It is full of power and has the ability to push out 670 horsepower and 738 pound-ft. of torque. When you add that with the 570 pounds that have been taken off you have to be pretty amazed at all of the damage that this Benz can do.

Spy footage caught the camouflaged SL65 driving down the Nurburgring, and the few seconds of action caught on tape shows that the battle for ‘Ring supremacy is far from over. The SL65 is shown taking corners at speed and sounding like a jet aircraft. The GT-R may be grabbing the ‘Ring headlines now, but it looks like the Germans are preparing to defend their home turf, and in a big way. Look out, Godzilla. Next-Gen AMG To Introduce Hybrids

Mercedes is batting down the hatches and preparing to balance low emissions with a high output for the next generation AMG. In other words we will see less displacement, more turbo, and even some hybrids. Shocked? So were we when we first heard.

Mercedes will be throwing out the 6.2 liter V8 engine and introducing the new 5.0 liter, twin turbo, V8 which will be designed to push out 570 horsepower and 665 pound-ft of torque. The output is said to hit 700 horsepower and 885 pound-ft of torque instead of the 612 horsepower V12 mil.

Forced induction is only part of the equation, as AMG is looking to a new hybrid-equipped V8, dubbed BluePower, that will either come with the X-Trac Flybrid system or a 100-hp electric motor integrated into the transmission. There’s also talk that AMG will be releasing its own plug-in hybrid by 2012 and that diesels will continue to become an important part of the brand.

The other issue with which AMG has to contend is Mercedes’ own turbocharged offerings. Future M-Bs will be sporting turbo’d V8s displacing 4.0-, 4.6- and 5.5-liters, with outputs ranging from 355 to 544 hp. And what of the upcoming AMG supercar? Car says that the gullwing super coupe, codenamed C197, will debut in March of 2010 and be powered by the same 6.2-liter V8 (likely the last application of that engine) while sending all that energy through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Mercedes Teams Up With Aston Martin

For a few weeks now we have heard that Mercedes and Aston Martin would be working with each other to create a new kind of car. Something that would surprise us and take the auto world by storm. This week we have received news that they have officially partnered up.

Mercedes and Aston Martin have partnered together to create cars that will be given brand new technology and a whole new platform that both of their designs have created. Because of this new partnership we won’t be surprised to see Mercedes buying a stake in Aston Martin.

In reality this partnership is something that we are looking forward to and was a smart plan for the two automakers. Aston Martin will once again need to rely on someone to help purchase all of their major car components from the usual mainstream suppliers once they are through working with Ford.

Also we can only imagine the kind of car that would be generated after combining a powerful Mercedes engine into a sleek Aston Martin framework. Who better to help Mercedes create the classic and powerful cars once they sever ties with McLaren than to join forces with one of the best supercar manufacturers. In fact we have heard rumors that Mercedes is planning on using Aston Martin’s expertise to create a lightweight aluminum platform for the next SL generation.

SL65 AMG Black Series Edition

Mercedes is making up for the poor reaction that was given to the SLR McLaren. Mercedes was hoping to attract consumers with the SLR – but they forgot a key ingredient that every Mercedes-Benz owner looks for – power. The design of the car was truly impressive – but without the right amount of power it doesn’t make it a true Mercedes. Not to mention consumer aren’t willing to pay a hefty amount for something that only looks good.

Luckily Mercedes has learned its lesson and has done the necessary improvements for the new Black Series version of the SL65 AMG. The new Black Series AMG has been designed to handle more power with less weight attached to it. This is a very common formula that many automakers have used and it has worked successfully in the past. The Ferrari 430 Suderia is an excellent example of this.

Mercedes will be replacing most of the body panels – which means that even the roof mechanism will be gone because of its heavy weight. Mercedes is promising us an even faster ride that will be better than the SLR McLaren and even more affordable. Yet, this is not the replacement car for the SLR. Mercedes is preparing an even better car for that called the SLC.

AMG Awareness Campaign Launched

Mercedes new AMG model line has the power that we look for in a car and has the design of a luxury car that we have come to expect from them. It isn’t too often that we are disappointed with what they have come up with and this is no different.

You can’t blame them if they brag a little and decide to spread the word through a clever awareness campaign that will show consumers the top performance models that can be found all across the U.S. The campaign is using great advertising, the establishment of AMG Performance Centers, and a road show demonstration. It will begin with only seven dealers from Florida, New York, and California – but if everything goes according to plan they will have incorporated its top 30 dealers by the end of the year.

If they reach this goal than they will see 80% of sales from the AMG model line to sign on. Mercedes is already working on creating an AMG area that will be separate from the dealership. Specially trained personnel will be in charge of these special dealerships and will also be there to show off the limited edition AMG models.

2008 C63 AMG Makes It First Appearance In The U.S.

The 2007 L.A. Auto Show was the perfect place and time for Mercedes-Benz to introduce their new C63 AMG to the fans in the United States. The C63 AMG was shown off in a pearl white paint job high on a platform and was personally introduced by the head of AMG – Affalterbach.

A beautiful car being given a great introduction is something that we couldn’t miss out on. Showing off the 451hp, 6.3L, V8 powered Mercedes was one of the highlights of the show.

We can expect to see the 2008 AMG model to go on sale sometime next year. Mercedes created it to be competition against the BMW M3 and the Audi RS4. May the best car win!
