Mercedes-Benz 'Concepts' - Page 3

2009 GLK Every year we see new vehicle ideas and ones that may not be so good. As always we can expect great things when it comes to Mercedes, especially for the 2009 model year, which is planning to be a great year. Mercedes will be releasing a premium ’soft-roader’ and a very unique one at that. The 2009 GLK will be shown to the public in the middle of next year. We estimate that this brand new model will cost around €35,000.

2009 SLR - Spy ShotIn 1999, Mercedes-Benz gave us two amazing “Vision SLR” supercar concepts. One had a roof and the other was a convertible. The Vision SLR coupe eventually became the incredibly fast and stratospherically priced SLR McLaren coupe, which Mercedes-Benz builds with racing partner McLaren Cars. After four years Mercedes-Benz and McLaren are finally giving their SLR coupe a droptop playmate, to be called the SLR McLaren roadster.

Spied in the Canary Islands on a photo shoot, this prototype of the top-secret roadster will become one of only a handful of droptops ever to break the 200-mph barrier and perhaps the fastest open-topped automobile ever sold in this country by a major manufacturer when it appears on our shores next year as a 2009 model.

Mercedes MPV ConceptsThis is the very first look at two near-finished MPV concepts from Mercedes-Benz, which will arrive as finished models in UK showrooms next year. Both of these vehicles will make their debut at the Paris Motor Show in two weeks’ time and adopt the Vision name-tag, which Mercedes uses for 90% of their finished designs.

The Vision B is billed as a compact sports tourer by Mercedes and is likely to be called the B-class when it goes on sale. Essentially a longer version of the A-class, the car is only a little shorter than MPVs like Volkswagen’s Touran. Mercedes won’t say whether it’s a five- or a seven-seater, or what folding tricks the seats may be able to perform. As a rough guide, prices should start in the region of £18,500.
