Dozens of photos on the new variant on the McLaren SLR speedster have been caught and spread to auto enthusiasts everywhere. Now we are getting the chance to see the final product and we have to admit that it is better than what we hoped for.

The Dutch magazine AutoVisie have gotten a hold of a few renderings for us. They also gave us what could be the new name for this supercar – the Stirling Moss. We may not be too crazy about the name – but just take one look at this beauty and we will all fall in love with it.

This care has been modeled after the Mercedes-Benz racer in which one of the most legendary British racecars won his first F1 Grand Prix and the 1955 Mille Miglia in record time. He did all of this in a Mercedes 300 SLR. Now the new rendition will bear his name and be an almost identical replica.

It will be powered by a supercharged V8 engine that should allow it to produce 650 horsepower with a top speed of 205 mph. Mercedes will be producing 75 models by June of 2009.

Spies have caught another glimpse of Mercedes’ new SLC Gullwing supercar. However, instead of getting another look of the exterior they managed to do the impossible – they captured pictures of the interior of the car. The shots may not be high quality – but at least we won’t be too surprised when it is released. Don’t worry though we’ll act surprised!

The pictures shows off the dash and the console. The COMMAND knob is connected to the steering wheel similar to that on the AMG SL63. It has a flat botton, directional buttons, and three spokes. The HVAC controls and the switch for the headlights are also what we are used to and classic for a Mercedes-Benz.

The SLC Gullwing – which is rumored to be given the badge as an AMG only is the successor to the SLR McLaren. It is supposed to be equipped with an AMG 6.2 liter V8 engine that can push out 550 horsepower and is similar in proportions to the Ferrari F430.

Mercedes has plans to debut the new supercar during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with a cloth roofed convertible version coming only a year after. It is possible that things could change for the car so we will be on the lookout to see if it does.

Thomas Weber – the head of Daimler AG’s development and research for Mercedes – stated the plans that they have to offer turbocharged engine for their entire line-up. Their deadline for this goal is 2010.

Unlike Mercedes-Benz’s current supercharged engines, these turbocharged motors won’t be built in the name of performance, but rather to meet upcoming emission standards. Not only does the automaker have to worry about the new CAFE mandate in the U.S., but also new legislation in Europe that will require Daimler to cut its average fleet emissions by 33 percent by 2012.

We are excited to hear that Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Edition will be using the twin turbo 6.0 liter V12 engine. It is full of power and has the ability to push out 670 horsepower and 738 pound-ft. of torque. When you add that with the 570 pounds that have been taken off you have to be pretty amazed at all of the damage that this Benz can do.

Spy footage caught the camouflaged SL65 driving down the Nurburgring, and the few seconds of action caught on tape shows that the battle for ‘Ring supremacy is far from over. The SL65 is shown taking corners at speed and sounding like a jet aircraft. The GT-R may be grabbing the ‘Ring headlines now, but it looks like the Germans are preparing to defend their home turf, and in a big way. Look out, Godzilla. Hit the read link below to view the video.

Mercedes is preparing to pave the way for a replacement to the SLR McLaren. The car will officially be terminated in 2009 due to its unpopularity among consumers. According to the rumors they are planning on building the new McLaren at the Woking, England facility. It will be powered by a V8 550 horsepower engine that will be built by Mahle. Mercedes stated that the new car will be competing with the Ferrari F430. For now there is no official name – but it has been codenamed the P11.

Mercedes is making up for the poor reaction that was given to the SLR McLaren. Mercedes was hoping to attract consumers with the SLR – but they forgot a key ingredient that every Mercedes-Benz owner looks for – power. The design of the car was truly impressive – but without the right amount of power it doesn’t make it a true Mercedes. Not to mention consumer aren’t willing to pay a hefty amount for something that only looks good.

Luckily Mercedes has learned its lesson and has done the necessary improvements for the new Black Series version of the SL65 AMG. The new Black Series AMG has been designed to handle more power with less weight attached to it. This is a very common formula that many automakers have used and it has worked successfully in the past. The Ferrari 430 Suderia is an excellent example of this.

Mercedes will be replacing most of the body panels – which means that even the roof mechanism will be gone because of its heavy weight. Mercedes is promising us an even faster ride that will be better than the SLR McLaren and even more affordable. Yet, this is not the replacement car for the SLR. Mercedes is preparing an even better car for that called the SLC.

Things are looking good for Mercedes-Benz in every place but Canada. Sales are down and Mercedes is afraid of losing some valuable customers. Don’t worry though they always have a plan. They will be cutting down their prices on certain models during the holiday season by creating a Manufacturer’s Dealer Direct Incentives (MDDI).

Effective now, reductions of up to $10,000 are available across the model range. The CLS 550 offers up a $6,000 discount, while an S450 4Matic offers an $8,000 incentive. Customers after the legendary Mercedes Benz SL-Class models will benefit from a $10,000 incentive. In some circles, the SL makes a fantastic Christmas present.

These incentives are intended for those paying cash for their vehicles- though adjustments to finance rates have been made to reduce them to as low as 3.9 percent. Participating dealerships will also waive the first months lease payment and security deposit, while absorbing 1% of the GST on all models.

Marcus Breitschwerdt, Mercedes-Benz Canada CEO gave a statement earlier in the week:

“These competitive Manufacturer’s Direct Dealer Incentives have and will continue to provide customers and prospects a most sound rationale to purchasing their Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Canada. In keeping with our on-going commitment to offering competitive rates and prices in the Canadian marketplace, these offers truly represent unprecedented value for our customers.”

That is why they have added a new feature to the new CL-Class and S-Class models, the Blind Assist system.

The system uses six short-range radar sensors mounted in the front and rear bumpers. They monitor the zone to the side and rear of the car on both sides. If another vehicle is detected in the danger zone, a red warning symbol appears in the exterior mirror glass, indicating that it may be dangerous to change lanes.

If the driver ignores the warning, he or she gets an audible warning and the symbol in the mirror will flash. The feature rolls out first in Germany, where it is priced at the equivalent of $3,700-$4,825. It is expensive, but it is something that will become more and more common in high-end vehicles.

Hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more popular as time goes by. Even though they are still expensive for the lower class of people who don’t make more than $30,000 a year. But I’m sure that as the years go by the price will be reduced. But for now we will have to be happy with the ones that have come and are soon to come.

Mercedes Daimler AG are one of the few automakers who has had a head start on hybrid vehicles and keeps them coming. Which is why they have unveiled 18 alternative-fuel vehicles at the Frankfurt auto show, 17 of which will go into production by 2010. A half dozen or more of them will come to the United States.

Hybrid versions of the Mercedes ML 450 and S 400 will go on sale in the United States in 2009, Klaus Maier said. He is executive vice president of sales and marketing at the Mercedes Car Group. Mercedes will launch clean-diesel versions of the GL and ML SUVs and the R-class crossover next year. Those light trucks will meet emissions requirements in all 50 states.

Currently, the E 320 Bluetec passenger car’s diesel engine is sold in 42 states. When that car is redesigned in 2010, it will be eligible for sale in all 50 states. Alternative-power versions of the Smart city car also could cross the Atlantic. A trial with 100 electric Smart ForTwo cars has begun in London. Roger Penske, CEO of Penske Automotive Group, wants the experiment extended to the United States. His company is Smart’s U.S. distributor. “We think it is the next step for Smart,” said Penske, who has driven the electric car.

Europe will get a Smart hybrid this fall, as well as diesel hybrid versions of the E and S class in 2010. The unveiling of the 18 alternative-fuel vehicles came at a DaimlerChrysler extravaganza. Said CEO Dieter Zetsche: Every one of the cars “demonstrates breathtaking design, driving pleasure, safety, dynamism and responsibility for the environment – all of which belong together at Mercedes-Benz across our entire model range.” Maier says Mercedes put on the extravaganza to demonstrate that “we want to be in the forefront with the environment.”
