Mclaren SLRDaimlerChrysler is reportedly thinking about purchasing racing specialist McLaren lock, stock, and barrel. The automaker already owns the 40 percent of McLaren in purchased back in 1999 (which it then leveraged to build the Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR), but it is now apparently interested in buying the outstanding 60 percent.

McLaren’s remaining shareholders consist of Ron Dennis, MD and Mansour Ojjeh, the firm’s co-founder. It is said that this move would not only give DCX more control over its associated Formula One team, it could also mean more high-performance McLaren-branded road cars, including the next SLR and the on-again, off-again P8.
