Mercedes-Benz will be revealing the compact B-Class hatch that has been built with a powertrain – which is designed to be powered by compressed natural gas. They will be showing this new design at the Washington Auto Show. Mercedes has already produced a dual-fuel version of the B-Class in Europe that can run on either petrol or compressed natural gas or both.

They have hopes that this same model or one even better will make its way to the United States. William Craven – the general manager for the regulatory affairs for Daimler’s Washington office told Automotive News that they want to test it for the U.S. market. “We’re testing the market” he said.

Using compressed natural gas usually has bad gas mileage and has slower acceleration. But Mercedes believes that the price for it will be much lower than that of petrol – which will help to offset the mileage problems. This and the fact that it has cleaner emissions could make it very appealing to consumers.

Dozens of photos on the new variant on the McLaren SLR speedster have been caught and spread to auto enthusiasts everywhere. Now we are getting the chance to see the final product and we have to admit that it is better than what we hoped for.

The Dutch magazine AutoVisie have gotten a hold of a few renderings for us. They also gave us what could be the new name for this supercar – the Stirling Moss. We may not be too crazy about the name – but just take one look at this beauty and we will all fall in love with it.

This care has been modeled after the Mercedes-Benz racer in which one of the most legendary British racecars won his first F1 Grand Prix and the 1955 Mille Miglia in record time. He did all of this in a Mercedes 300 SLR. Now the new rendition will bear his name and be an almost identical replica.

It will be powered by a supercharged V8 engine that should allow it to produce 650 horsepower with a top speed of 205 mph. Mercedes will be producing 75 models by June of 2009.

Mercedes has long been using the V12 engine – but like with most other automakers in the industry it is time to make a change. They are thinking about lowering their favorite cylinder engine count by a third. Many believe that the reason for this is due to the increase in fuel efficiency and the lower emission standards.

When in fact the real reason is because the block itself is too long. A V12 engine is as long as an inline-six and Mercedes’ latest line of their mainstream engines are all in the V-design. This means that their cars are not designed with an engine compartment that is large enough to hold the engine.

But don’t get too scared. This does not mean that Mercedes will be giving up on power. The V12 engine program is only being shifted to the twin turbo V8’s and forced induction. Just because there will be fewer cylinders does not mean that the horsepower will drop. Mercedes will most likely find new ways to increase the power and keep consumers happy.

Mercedes-Benz plans to use a state of the art and easy to use navigation system that consumers will enjoy. The new myCOMAND concept uses the Internet that has a download and upload speed on more then 3MB. This high speed Internet helps any driver to connect with no problems and no frustrations.

The interface is similar to those of the competition because it will allow access to the different digital media that can be found on the Internet as well as access to any phone information. The only difference is that myCOMAND will be entirely based on the Internet. That means that there are no more hard drives, the majority of computer hardware, and CD/DVD players.

In order to give it a test run they showed off myCOMAND during the LA Auto Show. Those who were able to test it out said that they were able to learn how it worked within a matter of seconds. They were able to search the Internet without any problems, check how the weather was, find the cheapest gas in the area, and search Google maps without any hiccups.

Despite this successful test run engineers at Mercedes still feel that the concept is still a few years away from being produced. We think that it is going to be the next best thing in navigational systems for vehicles. Don’t believe us? Check out the video that Autoblog made when they tested it out and see for yourself how it works.

Spies have caught another glimpse of Mercedes’ new SLC Gullwing supercar. However, instead of getting another look of the exterior they managed to do the impossible – they captured pictures of the interior of the car. The shots may not be high quality – but at least we won’t be too surprised when it is released. Don’t worry though we’ll act surprised!

The pictures shows off the dash and the console. The COMMAND knob is connected to the steering wheel similar to that on the AMG SL63. It has a flat botton, directional buttons, and three spokes. The HVAC controls and the switch for the headlights are also what we are used to and classic for a Mercedes-Benz.

The SLC Gullwing – which is rumored to be given the badge as an AMG only is the successor to the SLR McLaren. It is supposed to be equipped with an AMG 6.2 liter V8 engine that can push out 550 horsepower and is similar in proportions to the Ferrari F430.

Mercedes has plans to debut the new supercar during the 2010 Geneva Motor Show with a cloth roofed convertible version coming only a year after. It is possible that things could change for the car so we will be on the lookout to see if it does.

In order for Mercedes-Benz to continue to reduce emissions they are missing one vital ingredient – urea. They discovered that this fluid is a must have to operate not only the exhaust system – but also to start up one of their Bluetec cars.

Mercedes stated this week that they will be designing each Bluetec Diesel to only turn on when it has been given the proper amount of urea. Drivers can check the supply the same way they would check their oil levels. The new system will even be built with sensors that will monitor that the exhaust is properly neutralized. That way owners know not to fill the urea tank with water.

They are using this ingredient to ensure the diesels will be successful in replacing electric and hybrid cars. With urea these diesels will meet the emission standards. Urea is made from natural gas. It can be expensive when replacing it – but many diesel fans feel that it is with it. They believe that they will get better gas mileage. Mercedes will introduce the new system in the 2010 E320 model.

Volker Morphine – the head honcho for AMG – understands that building supercars without contemplating their worth in the ever decreasing economy would be a foolish thing to do. To many consumers are worried about the fuel emissions and the poor stance of the economy. Because of this they are forced to re-think a few details and to contemplate bringing in the heavy artillery.

Hybrids and diesels are becoming quite attractive to many consumers and AMG has taken notice of this. A more recent interview with CAR revealed the idea of equipping a twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter oil burning V6 engine into the C-Class. Mornhunweg hinted that AMG might push one of these type of cars into production.

It is possible that hybrid technology would be based on the brand new drivetrain that powers the new BlueHyrbid. None of this has officially been confirmed. But the fact that they are considering it makes us wonder what we can fully expect.

We have no doubt that the Paris Motor show – set to begin next month – will be a very eventful place. The press will be thronging to catch glimpses and information on the newest cars that have been talked about for months and concepts that have yet to be revealed. One of the concepts that we are most looking forward to seeing is the Mercedes-Benz ConceptFascination.

The concept deserves this very unique and flamboyant name and we have no doubt that you will feel the same way when you have caught a glimpse of the video that shows it off. This video is great for those of you who can’t make it to the show.

The video uses special effects to make it look like one of the best cars to own. Obviously Mercedes does its best to sell the car while it is still in concept form to hopefully inspire people that they should buy it when it hits production.

You will also get a chance to get a clear view of every angle of the car – which hint to us that this design might be used again on the E-class family.

Mercedes-Benz has produced many trucks and SUV’s. The next on their line-up is the GLK – which is not your average looking truck. Most trucks have a hard edge and a very aggressive look about them. However, the GLK has more of a softer edge to it.

We have no qualms with the look that the GLK has been given – but it wouldn’t hurt to add just a bit of an edge to it. I suppose that Mercedes thought this same thing because they will be bringing several aftermarket tuners to SEMA to place their expertise on the GLK and give it what it is missing.

RENNtech – the Florida-based company responsible for the bringing the McLaren SLR 722 to America and actually getting it to produce 722 horsepower – will be the first to get their hands on it. RENNtech has taken inspiration from the Pikes Peak challenge – one of the most iconic and power-craven hill-climb events in the world – to create this hardcore GLK.

Unfortunately we weren’t given any of the specifics – but we were told that it would be featuring RENNtech’s first performance hybrid drive train. Blvd Customs, Brabus, and Legendary Motorcars will also be modifying the GLK for SEMA. However, Mercedes has not yet confirmed what their participation will be in the show.

According to sources the new car will be part of both the A and B Class range and will be ready to launch by 2011. They are hoping that the new BLK will be equal competition to the Land Rover LRX and the BMW X1.

Sources report that the BLK will receive four-wheel drive and possibly even a FWD eco version. The eco version might just be a micro-hybrid, if they opt out for a direct hybrid. The micro-hybrid has start/stop technology to improve fuel consumption when the car is not moving.

A range of four-cylinder direct-injection petrol and diesel engines are being lined up, sized between 1.6 liters and 2.2 liters. Mercedes is still in the process of finding a partner, if they find one at all, to co-develop the engine and platform for the new range of front wheel drive vehicles.
