C-350According to Mercedes-Benz, 95 percent of its C-Class buyers prefer an automatic transmission. Because so few Americans going for the three-pedal models, you would naturally assume that Stuttgart would save some money and discontinue the manual gearbox option all together, but they won’t even think of it. BMW makes the rules in the entry-luxury sport sedan class. The 3 Series is far and away the top seller, and about a third of those Bimmer buyers choose a manual. That means everyone else better offer one, too.

2006 M-ClassIt was a vehicle that combined the roughness of an SUV with the safety and upscale appeal of a Mercedes. As Mercedes officials worked to boost production to meet demand, annual U.S. sales soared to more than 52,700 in calendar 2000.

Today, as Mercedes sells its new, second-generation M-Class, a lot has changed. The 2006 M-Class is bigger, faster and has a more refined interior than its predecessor. It’s restyled on the outside and uses unibody construction. It’s also the first SUV in the country to offer the Mercedes Pre-Safe system that helps prepare the vehicle and passengers if it senses an impending crash. And about a year after its spring 2005 launch, the new-generation M-Class will add a new “off-road pro” package that provides new off-road capability.

2006 C-ClassAfter receiving a numerous amount different updates for 2005, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class receives an influx of power with three brand new V6 engines for 2006. The coupe and wagon versions have been taken off the line, at least for the time being.

Active front-seat head restraints have also been added across the 2006 C-Class model range to reduce whiplash injuries in collisions. An Apple iPod interface makes it to an already extensive options list and integrates the popular MP3 player with the car’s audio system, allowing it to be operated via steering-wheel-mounted stereo controls.
