2007 CLS63 AMGThe CLS63 AMG may have been out of sight for some time, but it is never out of mind when you get from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. This breathtaking performance created by the vehicle is propelled by the most powerful, naturally aspirated V-8 engine in its class at the present time.

Its awe-inspiring data reads as follows: 507 hp and 465 lb -ft of torque. The 7G -TRONIC transmission with AMG SPEEDSHIFT programming makes for 35% faster gear changes and the three shift modes via aluminium shift paddles on the AMG sport steering wheel ensure that this formidable power is delivered instantaneously. The AMG sport suspension, based on the AIRMATIC DC system, and the AMG high-performance braking system with composite brake discs have been tuned accordingly.

2007 E63 AMGNormally we’d be sad by the passing of an engine like AMG’s supercharged 5.5-liter V8, the über-huffer that’s powered many of our favorite Mercedes-Benzes. However, now that we’ve seen its formidable successor, AMG’s new naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, we’ve cancelled the wake and are planning a party instead. The new 2007 E63 sedan is the most powerful E-Class yet to blast out of Stuttgart, and it’s a delight to drive, especially when the 507 horses are fully unleashed.

CLK63 AMGThe current CLK is four years old, so it is no surprise that the highlight here is the new, AMG-developed 6.2-liter V-8 beast that is spreading throughout Mercedes’ lineup of cranked-up AMG cars. It puts out 475 horsepower in the CLK63, making last year’s 362-hp CLK55 AMG seem a little tame. The new engine comes alive right off idle, heaving the tach toward the 7200-rpm redline and singing a refined yet seductive engine snarl that is nothing short of amazing.
