2007 Mercedes AMGMercedes is batting down the hatches and preparing to balance low emissions with a high output for the next generation AMG. In other words we will see less displacement, more turbo, and even some hybrids. Shocked? So were we when we first heard.

Mercedes will be throwing out the 6.2 liter V8 engine and introducing the new 5.0 liter, twin turbo, V8 which will be designed to push out 570 horsepower and 665 pound-ft of torque. The output is said to hit 700 horsepower and 885 pound-ft of torque instead of the 612 horsepower V12 mil.

2008 Mercedes E-ClassMercedes stated this week that they would be releasing a new brand of E-class that will be released in September of 2008. Mercedes is creating the E-class to be more for the younger consumers – which means we can expect to see a more unique body style and design that will be different from all of the other models.

Mercedes told us that it will have a tauter, edgier appearance inspired by the new C-class, including a clamshell-style bonnet, prominent swage lines along the flanks and a high boot line. Lightweight construction techniques will be used to help ensure the new E-class does not gain much weight. Mercedes will use a full steel structure with greater use of tailored blanks to keep the kilograms in check.

Mercedes Atego Blue-tech HybridThe theme this fall seems to be ‘Green’ – which stands for keeping the air and environment clean. When it comes to working hard to achieve that goal no one does it like Mercedes-Benz. The automaker created a global initiative that is focused on everyone using hybrid technology to help lower the amount of fuel and emissions that is consumed by commercial vehicles.

Daimler said the initiative encompasses all of the globally networked research and development activities in the area of alternative drives and fuels for all of the brands at Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses. “Hybrid technology plays a key role in these vehicles, as it can reduce diesel consumption by up to 30%,” Daimler said in a statement.
